Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my blog.
My name is David Ardley – ‘Ardles’ and I am Assistant Head (International Section) at the Lyceum-Alpinum Zuoz in Switzerland – an international Boarding School situated in a beautiful part of the Swiss Alps near St Moritz.
I am married to a french girl, have two daughters, am a self confessed petrol head, lover of rock music and rugby (most sports actually), collector of industrial and product design and enthuse about education and creativity in schools.
Professionally, I have involved myself in several areas of work over the years:
I have taught Design, Technology, Art and ICT in some of the finest boarding and day schools, nationally and Internationally including Wellington College, Cranleigh, Stowe, Whitgift, Taunton (UK), the International School of Toulouse (Airbus EADS) in France and La Cote International School in Switzerland. My work has seen me lead and guide departments and faculties through change and development as well as being involved in whole school strategy and development.
As an HMC/ISI inspector I have visited and seen several schools to advise on a myriad of issues both nationally and internationally and have taken schools through CIS, Ofsted, HMC and ISI inspections.
My consultancy work has allowed me to work with schools around the globe (Australia, Portugal, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, France and the UK) to advise on the design and build of facilities relating to Design, Art and ICT; the human resourcing of departments and the marketing of schools. I have also worked with parents who are looking for advice on the most suitable school(s) for their children based on a range of presented criteria.
